VDL Groep heeft zijn positie in de hoogwaardige elektronica verder versterkt. Het industriële familiebedrijf met het hoofdkantoor in Eindhoven heeft Rena Electronica uit Zundert (Noord-Brabant) overgenomen. Rena Electronica is actief in de ontwikkeling en productie van elektronica voor onder andere LED-producten in verschillende markten. VDL ziet met deze overname vooral synergievoordelen met VDL TBP Electronics, de dochteronderneming gevestigd in Dirksland (Zuid-Holland) en Eindhoven, die gespecialiseerd is in de assemblage van hoogwaardige elektronica, zogeheten printed circuit board assemblies (pcba’s), printplaten met elektronische componenten.

Tijdens de ASMPT Technology Days in München werden onze collega’s Ralf Maas, Jochem Winkelman en Bas van Beers bijgepraat over de mogelijkheden en innovaties op het gebied van Smart Industry en software. In het ASMPT Center of Competence volgden zij verschillende interessante workshops en presentaties.

Afgelopen maand hebben we gevierd dat RENA Electronica 40 jaar bestaat. Het hele RENA-team was uitgenodigd voor een dag vol activiteiten en een hoop lol op onze locatie in Zundert. De dag bestond uit verschillende workshops, waarbij samenwerken centraal stond en we elkaar (nog) beter hebben leren kennen.

Als RENA willen we u graag uitleggen wat ons uniek maakt. In deze videoserie gaan we dieper in op onze capabilities. Elke paar maanden zullen we een nieuwe video of blog uitbrengen die je inzicht geeft in onze USP's vanuit een Operations-oogpunt. In deze eerste video vertelt onze Business Development Manager Ebian Tempelaars u meer over de voordelen van het gebruik van potting voor verlichting of elektronica. Dit is van cruciaal belang in bijvoorbeeld harsh & hazardous toepassingen, of oplossingen die een langere levensduur vereisen.

De gehele elektronicamarkt kampt momenteel met componententekorten. Onze nieuwe Manager Operations Mark Verhoeven zorgt er samen met zijn team voor dat klanten hier zo min mogelijk last van ondervinden. Toch zijn we benieuwd naar de oorzaak en vooruitzichten van het probleem. In dit interview lees je er meer over.

Vanaf 1 september moeten alle lichtbronnen die in de EU worden verkocht, voldoen aan de nieuwe eisen voor het bekende CE-keurmerk. Deze zogeheten Ecodesign-regels zijn verplicht voor bijna alle lichtbronnen die in de EU worden verkocht. RENA zorgt er samen met u voor dat uw product klaar is voor deze nieuwe wet- en regelgeving.

Het kunstwerk ‘White Noise’ van Giny Vos straalt weer langs de A10. 11 jaar geleden ging het lichtkunstwerk voor het eerst aan, maar in 2018 ging het licht uit. Inmiddels is de abstracte sterrenhemel gerestaureerd, met technologie van RENA.

We roepen het vaak: RENA heeft een one-stop-shop concept met heel veel voordelen voor de klant. Maar wat houdt het nu eigenlijk in en wat betekent het voor onze klanten? Onze general manager Jochem Winkelman vertelt er graag meer over.

Vrijdag 23 oktober hebben we de eerste producten voor onze klant Saint Gobain Solutions mogen leveren. 500 Thermostaten en 40 Wifi Relais zijn door onze productie afgewerkt zodat deze eerste levering op tijd bij de klant kan zijn. De eerste serie gaat gebruikt worden in een renovatieproject.

Van een printplaatje met leds tot een volledig geassembleerde en gecertificeerde luminaire; bij RENA maken we het allemaal. Tussen productidee en LED oplossing zitten een hoop stappen, zoals het kiezen van de perfecte led. Onze LED Systems Architect Huub Borel en Business Development Manager Ebian Tempelaars vertellen hier meer over in dit interview.

This summer, RENA was reunited under one roof. The entire company is now located on the Dock'75 business park in Zundert. A well-known location for many customers and suppliers, because our production and assembly units have been housed here for some time. Now Engineering, Sales, the Customer Service Center and specialized work cells such as our potting, coating and explosion-proof departments, are also housed under the same roof.

These are exceptional times. The COVID-19 pandemic affects us all; we are facing a huge challenge together.

While old-fashioned High-Pressure Sodium lamps are still the most favourable choice of many growers, LED lamps gradually become more widely used in horticulture. Obviously because of the energy savings, yet also because reduced radiated heat, enabling new applications in indoor and multilayer grow houses.

Why does an iPhone show defects after two years, while the display of a professional vacuum packaging machine easily lasts a decade? Electronics has two trends in development; one group with a shorter lifespan that creates a replacement market, and the group that is intended to last; focusing on longevity and reliability. RENA focuses on the second group, also referred to as embedded electronics.

The future of electronics production has started a long time ago, and increasingly takes place in our own country. New and progressive technologies create the possibility to answer to the corporate and consumer side quickly, affordably and innovatively.

To insiders, RENA is an established name in the world of lighting and electronics. But the general public doesn’t always know what they do. Time to shine a light on the company’s rich history and show what happens behind the doors of the Zundert-based enterprise.

The familiar view of the street has been preserved; the system was installed in the existing nostalgic fixtures. The color of the LED lighting adapts to the social situation and was developed by RENA Electronica, commissioned by our partner Primo Exposures.

During the Electronics & Applications 2017 fair on 1st of June Jack van Daal from RENA Electronica has given a peek inside of the process RENA is going through in her way to set up a Smart Factory. RENA is investing money and time to adjust the production facility to be able to serve their customers cheaper, better and faster.

On Monday May 1st. we received the keys for our brand new production facility located in a renovated business complex in Zundert (Industrieweg 15a-15b). The increased demand of our (new) customers and the relatively large size of our overall systems led to this expansion.

Rena transforms into a Smart Factory to produce high quality, flexible, innovative products with as little resources as possible.

Jochem Winkelman talks about this during the seminar 'Future of electronics production of the Benelux' on thursday June 1st in Jaarbeurs Utrecht, at the Electronics & Applications 2017 exhibition.

A very impressive piece of art, designed and developed by Studio Roosegaarde was revealed end of August at the renewed Departure Hall 3 of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. While you are walking from the check-in counter to security control you experience a special 3D effect, created with the idea in mind of "feet on the ground, head in the sky".

Dutch bicycle manufacturer Royal Gazelle has developed an electric bicycle representing the latest innovations on various aspects like the frame, the wheels and the lights. Our factory proudly features in the 'making of' documentary video!

A sunny day in Zundert on which RENA welcomed customers and suppliers for a guided tour around our facilities. The official opening of the new Smart Factory added to the joyful atmosphere, supported by Stefan Techau of ASM and Maurits van der Laken of PartnerTec.

Lighting specialist Hortilux develops a.o. sustainable and efficient LED lighting for greenhouse horticulture. They turned to RENA Electronica for the production and assembly of 3 new innovative luminaires.

This means a considerable expansion of production capacity and employment at the company in Zundert.

On June 24 and 25, we will welcome customers, suppliers, employees and their family and everyone in the Zundert area who would like to have a look at the RENA facilities.

We are really proud of what we have achieved and look forward to showcasing a Dutch enterprise that adds value in the lighting and electronics market with an engineering department and manufacturing all under one roof. 

Over the past year a team of specialists at Rena has worked hard to obtain the ISO-14001 certficate.

This week the formal audit will take place to see if the inventory of environmental aspects, our internal processes and our future environmental strategy meet all criteria.

New equipment has been moved into our Ambachten 1 facility in support increasing production activities. Staffing of the new production lines is in full swing with a team of 15 joining our company very soon.

The 2016 Light+Building Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, was an interesting fair for us. It became clear that now is the time for lighting controls.

Again a lot of interest in our Bits2Power system was shown. Fully potted solutions for outdoor applications, drivers and ATEX-required areas were quite popular as well. Our mechanisation investments and increased assembly facilities opened opportunities we previously had to let go by.

Designed by system integrator and installer Alewijnse Marine, the RENA Bits2Power lighting control system is traveling the world inside super yachts built by Oceanco. Three Dutch companies working proudly together and delivering top quality products.

Last month at the IPM in Essen a new LED product line was introduced by Hortilux. This complete LED product line is developed based on Hortilux’ expertise and many years of experience in the lighting technology sector. The HORTILED® product line comprises three LED fixtures, each designed for a specific horticultural application.

A successfull first entry at LightBuilding two years ago will have a succession with this years' event at the Frankfurter Messe. RENA has been assigned an exhibition space in hall 4.0. The show starts early this year on March 13th. and will be open until Friday 18th.

On January 1, 1981, our company was officially launched as RENA Electronica B.V. by its founder René Geerts. This means we are celibrating our 35th anniversary and are really proud to have established many interesting projects and products over this dynamic period of time.

The company Rena is growing steadily with the result that we have passed the threshold for a Works Council (Ondernemingsraad - OR).

This new entity in the organisation will be launched on April 1st, 2016.
Meanwhile a committee of volunteers has been installed to prepare elections and a proper setup of the Rena works council.

Built in the Netherlands by Amels Shipyard the superyacht "5501" from the LE199 series was named "Event" and launched in 2013.

This 60 meter yacht is sailing the world with Bits2Power lighting controls and interior lighting, developed and made by Rena.

The Electrotechnical fair 2015 in Utrecht, the Netherlands, will be held from September 29 to October 2. Rena will be present at booth 10B 045.

Meet us there and we will have a look at business opportunities that we have in common.

Due to the increased activities we have extended our manufacturing possibilities at the Ambachten in Zundert with the rental of another facility nearby.

The site will be operational soon and is meanwhile being equipped and staffed.

Rena Electronica traditionally sponsors the annual famous flower parade ("bloemencorso" in Dutch) in its home town Zundert. Several customers have joined us and watched the beautiful floats pass by in this competition between local neighbourhoods and neighbouring villages.

This year's flower parade was fully dedicated to Vincent van Gogh, who was born in Zundert (in the house located left on the picture) and died exactly 125 years ago. The theme therefore: Flowers of Inspiration. For an impression of the parade have a look at www.corsozundert.nl.

Royal Gazelle has built a new Innovation & Production facility in their home base Dieren, The Netherlands. To celebrate this a fully new, intelligent e-Bike concept has been developed over the past months with their latest technological innovations.

The official opening of the research site and the official presentation of the e-Bike was done on September 3, 2015 by our royal highness King Willem-Alexander.

The "bicycle chain" concept was conceived and designed by Atelier Lek from Rotterdam and offered to municipalities along a new fast speed cycle track in the region of Arnhem, the Netherlands.

The luminaire was developed and manufactured by Lightronics in Waalwijk and Rena in Zundert has produced the coloured LED-units and the individual electronic controls.

Over the past months Ziut has installed all of it and the sights of it are remarkable, both in daylight as well as during nighttime.
